A Sanctifying Christmas
You may not have thought of this...
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.”
Titus 2:11–14.
Did you know that Christmas is about how grace appeared? Paul tells us above that grace became visible in the person of Jesus Christ. He is grace incarnate.
We typically associate grace with initial salvation in the past through His undeserved pardon of all of our sins (this is gloriously true!). But did you know that Christmas is not just about the incarnate Son of God redeeming our past, but also about Him transforming our present? It’s not just that God justified us by grace through faith, but He continues to sanctify and change us by that very same grace, namely, through Jesus Christ Who dwelt among us and Who now dwells in us.
